Refreshing Rain

1 Peter 1:7;  ” These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold–though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world.”

As a Christian, I realize that heat serves its purpose and that we are refined by His fire but along with that fire we must sometimes endure searing heat as God uses it to burn off things that are not part of His plan for our lives.  After those periods of testing by fire it is always good to receive a cool refreshing rain of the Holy Spirit from God.

Therefore heat can and often is a good thing for us but exposure to too much heat can be deadly.  Just as It would be silly for someone to stand outside all day in the heat without taking time to refresh themselves under a tree, some form of shelter or with some source of water to drink it is also silly for Christians to continually endure the searing heat of the trials of this life without taking time to drink from the coolness of God’s Holy Spirit.

There are so many of us in the faith that are walking through periods of Spiritual dryness and heat wondering “when will God refresh me?”

While that is an awfully important and good question a better one would be “why don’t you go and refresh yourself in God by the leading of His Holy Spirit instead of always waiting for Him to refresh you?

Is this you today?  Do you need refreshing?  Are you in a Spiritual Desert and don’t know
how to quench your thirst?

Take all of your spiritual dryness and heat to God and lay it at His feet . Let the cool, refreshing rain of the Holy Spirit drench you with God’s love.

All of the pain, all of the heartache, all of the daily abuses, hurt, the drugs, the alcohol, un-forgiveness, spitefulness, pettiness, un-Godliness can be brought under submission and be dealt with in a proper manner when these things are thrust into God’s refreshing presence.

He sees what you’re dealing with right now and wanted me to ask you why haven’t you brought this situation to Him so that He can help you with it?

God wants to bring you out of this spiritual desert to an oasis of His love but you hold the key.  All that we must do as His children is ask it of Him and then trust that He will do what His word says He will do as He is not a man who would lie to us.

To the one who is reading this that was molested as a child that is currently putting on the “proper” Christian face but has not truly dealt with your pain He needs you to bring that pain to Him so that He can help you restore your faith and trust in others so that you can do the work He has assigned for you to do.

For the young lady reading this whose sole focus is finding a mate right now He wants you to know that your search for a man will never go as planned until you search and find Him because you’ll never find the love that you seek until  the one who IS Love in firmly planted in your heart.

To the lonely, you’re never alone, to the hurting you don’t have to hurt anymore, to the sick you can be healed, to the desperate you DO have hope, to the blind you can see, to the lame you can walk.

He watches you when you are asleep, gently caressing your very soul as your chest rises and falls with every breath that He breathed into you.

He knows every mistake that you have and will ever make yet He still chose to take off His Heavenly splendor to die a gruesome but necessary death for you because He loves you so much.

He thinks about you every second of every moment of every day and He sees the beauty in you though you feel like the proverbial ugly duckling that can never be a swan.

He loves you today and wants you to be refreshed in Him forever and always!

Your brother in Christ,
