Proper Perspective

Matthew 6:19: “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal.”

Sometimes we lose focus on what this whole journey of the “human” life is all about as many people often tend to think that this life is all about work, money, play, family, people and/or things or the “treasures” of this world when the Bible clearly warns us in the above verse not to do so.

To ensure that we are able to properly follow this teaching we need the guidance of the Holy Spirit in our lives and we must have a close, personal relationship with the one who created and knows us our ver thoughts.

Take a second to look around at the things in your immediate vicinity.  If you’re at work notice your office, cubicle, desk, plaques, awards, pictures, etc.,  If you’re at home look around at the things that you’ve accrued over the years, the cars, the furniture, the bank account, the clothes, jewelry, etc.,  No matter where you’re at take a moment to notice all of the things that surround you in your daily life and realize this, they will all one day disappear in the blink of an eye.

Keeping things in perspective is easy when you realize that this daily grind that we’ve become accustomed to has its purpose but it and the things that we accrue in walking through it should never define us.  So many of us become lost in our lives that we forget who provided us with life and everything in it in the first place.

We can sit around and whine about why things are the way they are, why things happen the way they happen, why we do and say what we do and say or we can utilize God’s instruction manual for lives, the Bible, to carve out the life that God has planned for us.

When we choose to get into and feed on God’s provision, His word, our perspective changes and things that were once an imperative in our lives are put in their proper place and the talents, objectives, purposes, gifts and other plans that God has in store for us will come to the forefront or to put it another way, the cream (Holy cream) will rise to the top and we will learn to receive the blessing that God promised our father Abraham and thus become a blessing ourselves.

Let’s take time to look at every aspect of our lives to see where we’ve lost perspective.  As we continue to learn to be guided by His word, His voice and His Holy Spirit and as we learn to give more of ourselves to Him to become more like Him and less like the person that we currently are our perspective will become clearer and clearer as the journey of this mist of a life continues.

He loves you today.  He’s so proud of and loves you no matter how you feel today.   He longs to have you stop and share your day with Him so that He can show you through it and He wants to give you all that He has planned for your life If you’ll only ask Him for it and seek His will.

Take time to thank and praise Him for who He is, what He does, and what He will do today as He is always thinking good thoughts of you!
