Assembling With One Another

Hebrews 10:25 – Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another–and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Galatians 6: 7-8:   7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

Technological advances have brought us many conveniences over the years and have benefited mankind as God has given men and women ideas for “witty inventions” as noted in Proverbs 8:12.

One of those “witty inventions” that has revolutionized how the world and its people have interacted with one another is the internet.

Over the past few years more and more churches are putting their services online available in various media formats such as MP3, Podcasts, streaming media whether live or playback etc., all with varying degrees of success and results.

While these innovations are good and provide access to the word for brothers and sisters that could in no wise attend a service for any number of reasons it does not and cannot replace the need for the son’s and daughter’s of Jesus Christ to in today’s vernacular “hang out” together.

Whatever we invest or “sow” our time into will bear fruit in our lives as mentioned in the scripture reference in the above paragraph.  This same “reaping and sowing” principle applies to the people that we interact with in our daily lives for as we take time to invest (sow) into their lives, they in turn invest (sow) into our lives and a reciprocal harvest is reaped.

Whenever we assemble with like-minded brothers and sisters who are “walking out” a life with Jesus we tend to be more aware of our sin life and God will put people into our lives that we become accountable to thus we are sowing into good ground and we become more pliable to God’s word and the leading of His Holy Spirit for the direction of our lives.

The same can be said for assembling ourselves with people (other than the purpose of sharing Jesus’ light to the world by our deeds, actions, our walk etc) that are doing things that we know that God does not approve of and are constantly trying to get you to participate in things that could do your Spirit harm, thus sowing into bad ground and a consequential hardening of our hearts that causes a deafness to hearing the voice of the Holy Spirit.

The assembling of ourselves together can be a very important tool to use in fighting off the attacks of our adversary, the devil.

When we assemble together we share our joys, our pains, our grief’s, our sorrows, we also support one another, encourage one another, if need be we chastise one another, rebuke one another, serve one another and we also learn to serve others as new Christians come into the house with problems similar to the ones that God is working on in our lives.

You cannot fully get this one on one or group interaction over the internet and to use these resources as a way to just get out of coming to church can be an indicator of where your walk is with Christ (no condemnation, just truth).

Let’s all get together at God’s House and fellowship together and if we can’t THEN use the internet to get the message.

There can be no fellowship without the “Fellows (and Lady Fellows)” getting together on the “ship” to interact with one another!
