Why Support Israel?

Jeremiah 33: 19-26:  “19 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: 20 “This is what the LORD says: ‘If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time, 21 then my covenant with David my servant—and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me—can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne. 22I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars in the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.’” 23 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah: 24 “Have you not noticed that these people are saying, ‘The LORD has rejected the two kingdoms[d] he chose’? So they despise my people and no longer regard them as a nation. 25 This is what the LORD says: ‘If I have not made my covenant with day and night and established the laws of heaven and earth, 26 then I will reject the descendants of Jacob and David my servant and will not choose one of his sons to rule over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. For I will restore their fortunes[e] and have compassion on them.’”

There are many things that we must consider as we give our lives to God and become a “Christian” or someone who has decided to entrust his or her life to Jesus Christ.

One of the most overlooked principles that in the modern-day church is our relationship with God’s people, the Israelites.  As I grow deeper in my walk with Him and grown deeper in study of His word I find that there is an inseparable bond between God, the Israelites and His children the Christians.”

We need not be fooled by the false teachings of churches that try to espouse the belief that under the new covenant we are not supposed to support and protect Israel.

Matthew 5:17 teaches us that Jesus came to fulfil the law not to get rid of it so that means that the words of the old testament are still valid and since these word are still valid we still must consider them for wisdom, guidance, knowledge, its history, and for the learning of what God’s character is. Consider, what good would the New Testament be without the Old Testament? Without the prophecy of the coming of Jesus in the Old there wouldn’t need to be a New!

God does not utter a word that does not have purpose and God is surely “not a man that He should lie” so as we peruse His word (both Old and New Testament) and since the true Christian knows by revelation of the Holy Spirit that His word is infallible, time-tested, and trustworthy we must take a look to the Holy scriptures to understand what our relationship with Israel should be.

Please consider the following scriptures and balance them against what we hear from the media and from some in our very own government as they try to dissuade our country to no longer have ties with or support Israel:

Genesis 12: 2-3:  “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you,and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

Numbers 24: 8-9: 8 “God brought them out of Egypt;    they have the strength of a wild ox. They devour hostile nations    and break their bones in pieces;    with their arrows they pierce them. 9Like a lion they crouch and lie down,    like a lioness—who dares to rouse them?  “May those who bless you be blessed    and those who curse you be cursed!”

Zechariah 12: 1-9:   1″A prophecy: The word of the LORD concerning Israel. “The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the human spirit within a person, declares: 2 “I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. 4 On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,” declares the LORD. “I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. 5Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, ‘The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.’ 6“On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place. 7 “The LORD will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem’s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. 8 On that day the LORD will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the LORD going before them. 9 On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.”

These are just a few references in the Bible of how important Israel is to God and we being in-grafted into that relationship by the death and blood of Jesus who gave His life for all of mankind to be able to have the opportunity to be able to reside in the Kingdom of God for all eternity should be in continual prayer for Israel no matter what those that are deceived by the enemy try to tell us.

We are either on God’s side or not.  We are either on the side that has won or not.  We are either on Israel’s side or not. So many false teachers are filling the heads of God’s children with nonsense and mindless babble that it’s just shameful yet,  however,  prophetic.  It is up to every individual to read what God’s word says on any matter to discern the truth about what is going on in every circumstance that is going on around them in their lives. His word is the instruction manual for our lives and is there for us to use it as it is in this case concerning our support for Israel.

Make no mistake the United States is on a dangerous road in its non-support of Israel these days.  We have governmental leaders who speak support for Israel out of one side of their mouths while supporting her enemies out of the other and so many of our people (sadly many Christians) continually side with those that would destroy Israel as well as our own country.

This country has been blessed because of our long history of support for Israel and it’s people.  We must not allow our leaders to remove the blessing from this nation by rejecting our brothers and sisters through whose blood the Savior of the World was given to us.

We as a Christian people must unite in our support for Israel, we must lift her up in prayer, we must support those causes that ensure her protection, and we must educate our brothers and sisters who have been deceived as to what God’s word truly says about our family Israel.

“Father in Heaven, we come to you together as a people and as these United States of America to pray for Israel.  We pray for her protection, we pray for her prosperity, we pray for her people, and we pray that her enemies be crushed all around her.  We pray that our leaders in Washington bend their ear to your word concerning your people the descendants of Abraham and do whatever needs to be done to ensure that Israel is protected from all threats far and near.  We bless Israel today knowing that as we bless them we will be blessed ourselves and we as a nation will always support her as you have commanded.  We ask you for all of these things in the Name Above All Names, Jesus Christ.  Amen!”
