Who’s Responsible For Steering This Ship?

How is it that President Bush was responsible for everything that occurred during his administration (and rightfully so) yet President Obama is able to avoid responsibility for almost anything that goes wrong during his?

I routinely criticized President Bush for many of the things that I criticize President Obama and I had no shortage of people who sided with me when I did so yet now when I do the same during this current administration I’m treated as a pariah (especially from the black community) for daring to assert my Constitutional right (that many people both black and white died for) to demand honesty from my government no matter who is in office yet it seems that our current President rarely has knowledge of anything that goes on within his administration that is controversial or corrupt.

One of the many glaring examples that immediately comes to mind is how almost everyone including myself were mightily concerned (including then Sen Obama) about government over reach and abuse in monitoring the communications of American citizens.

Now even the media establishment laments that citizens in this country have never been more surveiled and many times often without any probable cause or a search warrant by our government and ironically by many of the people who reside within that fought (along with me I might add) against the very policies that usurped our Constitutional rights.

I remember the outrage that was afoot (and again rightfully so) when the Bush administrations ties and dealings with Haliburton were exposed in the favoring of contracts and we all know the outrage that appeared when the “Iran-Contra” scandal was brought into the daylight yet our government is now threatening whistleblowers despite the whistleblower laws that specifically were designed to protect career government workers from attacks from the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches.

This is not a Democrat or Republican issue this is a right or wrong issue and both sides of the aisle or complicit in their deception and only a few true statesmen reside in the hallowed halls of our government.

Lastly, it is the people who were silent during previous administrations when issues like these occurred and the people who are silent now because “their guy” is in office (be it the Oval Office, Congress, the Senate, or the Judiciary) that are culpable and complicit when these “non-statesmen” abuse, violate, or ignore the Constitution and I reserve my most fervent loathing for the also culpable and corrupt media for their apathetic and “lap-doggish” behavior (for the current administration) by not adhering to their profession’s time-honored tradition of keeping our politicians honest no matter the party affiliation.

Those that loved President Bush covered and supported him and his administration and those that support the current one continue to do so for it and it’s “We the People” who are the recipient of the loss of more and more liberty as a result as our government takes more and more control over our God-given right to live as we see fit.

It beg’s the question to be asked: “Who’s Responsible For Steering This Ship?”

As it was during the Bush administration it should be the current Captain.
