“Little Ships”

“And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?” Mark 4:35-40

As I read the “Coffee Break” devotional concerning this scripture (by my dear friend Lorraine Ezell of: About the Master’s Business Ministries, INC.) I picked up on something that I had never noticed before when reading this piece of scripture “and there were also with him other little ships.”

This story is one of the classic, true stories in the Bible but think about it…how did so many people know about it if only the disciples knew of it and could easily be accused of furthering their religious agenda?

This little part of the scripture was God’s way of pointing out to me that He always ensures that what He wants the world to know about what He wants to know will get out either through men or via His Holy Spirit and these “other little ships” as God impressed upon my heart were vital in the retelling of this true account in the Bible.

Isn’t God grand to always use the “little” things to astound us?
