(Part Two) Do not be so quick to judge a person who is fighting tyranny’s faith…it may just be the path that God put him/her on!

Matthew 7 1-5: (1-5) “Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on your neighbor’s face and be oblivious to the ugly sneer on your own. Do you have the nerve to say, ‘Let me wash your face for you,’ when your own face is distorted by contempt? It’s this whole traveling road-show mentality all over again, playing a holier-than-thou part instead of just living your part. Wipe that ugly sneer off your own face, and you might be fit to offer a washcloth to your neighbor.

Today I will continue on the topic that I posted about yesterday (Do not be so quick to judge a person who is fighting tyranny’s faith…it may just be the path that God put him/her on!) that deals with our brothers and sisters who seemingly look at some believers as having some sort of a lack of faith because they are fighting tyranny or perceived tyranny against governmental authority in this, our country where we have a right as guaranteed by our Constitution to fight ANY people who are eager to pervert or take away our rights and our freedoms (BTW, our unique Constitution allows us to fight for our rights and still be in right standing with God’s word because our form of government is supposed to actually be accountable to the people…it used to be).

All believers know that we must “trust God” when fighting tyranny and I can’t think of anyone who is fighting the current fight for our freedoms, especially religious freedoms…especially “Christian” religious freedoms who don’t “trust God” yet God has shown me that there are some within the faith, much like the Pharisees that have become so “high-minded” (I have been guilty of this in other areas in my “walk”) that they (as God has shown me) have become whether intentionally or unintentionally too “Heavenly minded” to be any earthly good” when they assume that a person who enters the political realm to fight for justice and freedom when in actuality THEY are showing some form of a lack of trust in God to use people as HE sees fit because God has shown that He does utilize people in a political capacity and again has done so throughout the history of the world.

From Joseph to Daniel to Roman soldiers, the kings of Israel, tax collectors, and even our brother Paul who before his “see the light” moment persecuted those in the faith God has often used politics and the people within those circles to do His will and bring forth His Kingdom…so why should today be any different?

What if Ruth had stayed out of politics? She saved an entire people by being obedient and allowing herself to be led by the Spirit beckoning authority within its rules to change the “rule” and save God’s people.

What if Daniel had not stood up for what was right in God’s eyes and rightly challenged the authority that was seeking to do away with worshipping the only God? Should he have sat in a room and just prayed that everything was going to be alright or did he step out in faith to do what God was telling him to do.

What if the little boy David had remained silent when all of the “political people” in Israel were scared to “speak up” and fight the fight that God had already told them that they had the victory in as long as they believed and “trusted” in Him? Would anyone have defeated Goliath if he had stayed home and just “prayed it out” when (as we read in the Holy texts) there was a burning and zeal that was put in his heart by God Himself that would cause him to want to fight and defend God’s people though he was constantly told to “shut up” and “go back to tend the sheep”? Would he have become the great king that we know him to have been today?

Again, for the person whose lot is not cast into a political path I can understand your difficulty in not seeing God’s hand in the political atmosphere but as one that occasionally delves into politics I can assure you that even within that sometimes evil atmosphere that God has a plan and God uses people within that atmosphere for His purposes.

The people who stand up for the things of God and for His ways to be represented in our government are not only following the zeal that God has placed in their heart but are providing a service that will benefit ALL of our countrymen because we all know that when God is the head of anything including a country IT WILL PROSPER and the resulting government will be one that will seek justice instead of enslavement of the hearts, minds, and souls of its peoples.

I am definitely not saying that some of the brothers and sisters who delve into the political arena always get it right and they sometimes even go way past the way “Christ would do it” as they in frustration and anger sometimes say or do things that God does not approve of (again, I am guilty as charged in this area at times) but just as it is with any area of our walk with Christ if this person is being led by the Holy Spirit they will learn by His leading how to fight the fight as God would have them fight it so that they can do what God has called them to do and that is counsel Kings, politicians, and yes…even Presidents into the admonition of the Lord so that they will make laws that resemble God’s heart and that will take care of the poor the down-trodden, as well as be fair to all even the non-Christian.

To prove the point I urge you to remember the story of the man who was shipwrecked and allowed three boats to pass him by all the while saying “go on God is going to save me” yet he summarily died and when he got to Heaven he asked the Lord “Lord why didn’t you save me like I told those three boats that you would” and the Lord said “I sent those three boats to save you and you sent them on their way so it’s your fault that you died before your time!.”

So I pray that you can see that God can and does send people to fight battles in politics just as he sends people to fight physical wars. These people fight legislation that says that it is okay for people to be unnaturally wed man to a man or a woman to a woman, these people fight vigorously for the rights of the unborn lives that God has created that are snuffed out because the devil knows that some of them may be the next Billy Graham or Smith Wigglesworth.

These people fight to expose fraud, abuse, deception, and corruptive powers within governments yet if some in the church who have allowed themselves to become “pharasee-ical” in their positions as they concern themselves so much with what this person or that person may or may not be doing for God’s Kingdom instead of concentrating on what God has for THEM to do they may actually be hindering what this person or that person may be doing for God in a mission field just because they don’t understand it.

Simply put we need more people willing to fight the good fight with the leading of God’s Holy Spirit and we need to trust that God is trying to put people in government that He can trust yet it is often the church that hinders these people because of their apathetical at times way of thinking and the rigidity of “church” ideology which Jesus plainly warns us against in the Bible.

Yes, if a person is becoming nasty in their politics then maybe it may be your job to pray for them, correct them, or it may be that a kind word to show them that their tone may not be effective for God’s purposes that may turn their thought processes around but don’t be so arrogant and self-righteous that you think that YOU know what God is or is not doing with them and what their purpose may or may not be even if it is in politics or whatever endeavor.

Lastly, and for the one whose proverbial “panties are all in a bunch” because of these two letters that I’ve written on these subject you may yourself need to look at your own “log” of offense that is in your eye (why you are being so judgmental in the first place) instead of worrying about the “speck” in your brothers eye because God uses all people differently and He can be trusted to reel them back in…even in politics if they go astray from His will and purposes.

He’s done it with the writer of these two letters and He still corrects me when I go on my rants but the bigger question is for the ones who often try to judge me is: “why does He give me insight to fight with proper arguments as to how to expose the evil that is rampant in our political system through using His word and being led by His Spirit if HE wasn’t planning on using me and those like me to do so? (Trust me. I had no desire to enter politics until HE started giving me the words. Go and check out how I got into the abortion fight on my blog site…this from a former “pro-choicer”)

I trust God in every other area of my life and politics are no different and never forget that we are fighting for your freedom to worship Him as YOU wish so in your own words “trust God” and get onto working out your own salvation with fear and trembling instead of worrying about your brother unless he his actions are steeped in sin or foolishness that deserves a word of correction…even then ensure that it is coming from the leading of God’s Holy Spirit and not your own self-righteousness.
