From my Bible reading today: Anyone Can Invoke The Name Of Jesus…But Are They Truly Following Him?

Ephesians 1 20-23:  20-23 All this energy issues from Christ: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence.

Ephesians 5 6-7:  6-7 Don’t let yourselves get taken in by religious smooth talk. God gets furious with people who are full of religious sales talk but want nothing to do with him. Don’t even hang around people like that.

These scriptures show the fallacy of those Christians, including the politicians that we elect into our government, that believe that government and the rules that it creates will solve any of the issues that beset our society (especially a government that is devoid of God…which as a side note was NOT what the Founders of our country intended!)

We have “Christians” in our government that are espousing and proliferating ideas that are antithetical and dare I say anti-Christ in their totality yet they can do nothing unless we elect and support them and many of us that claim Christ do.  We were warned of this in 2 Peter 2: 1-22:

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to chains of gloomy darkness to be kept until the judgment; if he did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah, a herald of righteousness, with seven others, when he brought a flood upon the world of the ungodly; ”

We have been electing these people because we have become a population that can be easily swayed by smooth-talking people just because they claim an allegiance with our Jesus  and because we have become a population that believes more in what the “mere men” (and “mere women”) that call themselves “leaders” in this country say in their foolish orations than what God in His wisdom-filled Word teaches us.

Daily I see brothers and sisters “agree” with politicians and other people who blatantly or slyly lie to further their own political or personal agendas and they accept what these people are doing as “right” which turns everything that Christ has taught us upon it’s head.

Just because we like someone doesn’t make them right about things.

Just because we respect someone doesn’t make what they say truthful when it isn’t.

Just because someone claims Christ doesn’t make them a believer that follows His teachings as taught to us by Jesus’ words set forth in the Bible.

We must wake up and realize that satan is always trying to kill us every chance that he gets and he is not beyond using politicians and people who claim to know Christ to reach his objective.

The obvious way to filter out the truth of what people say is to hold their words up to the truth that Jesus teaches us in the Bible and honestly judge if what someone be they in our personal lives or in government can withstand God’s barometer of judgement and not our own fleeting hearts which can be trained by clever and even sometime well-meaning folk to do their own bidding.

If they lie about one thing then they are probably lying about others. If they tell mistruths to manipulate personal or popular opinion then they are either working for or are influenced by the devil…we all have been and are sometimes guilty of this which is why we should never truly trust “man” but always trust in God.

So I pray today that we start taking a long, hard look at what people are saying and give an honest assessment led by God’s Holy Spirit as to whether or not we are letting our minds override the truth.

If we are allowing people, no matter who they are to get away with lying, mistruths, etc., just because we identify with them because they look like us, or are from the same race, same region or locale, or even from the same church then we have moved beyond friendship, respect, etc., and have simply created another idol in our lives to worship other than the One true God.

This may not be easy for any of us to accept because God has clearly shown me how people have come to worship or accept what someone else is saying as truth over what He has said in His word in our movie/music stars, our business leaders, our politicians (on both sides of the aisles), and even within our own family.

We must be vigilant and pray to God for Him to give us the strength to confront devilish behavior even from the people, groups, or even within our own family groups despite how we “feel” about them.

We serve an awesome God who does not deserve to be trivialized and have His words be placed behind someone else’s especially those that are in the growing trend of using His Heavenly Name to further their earthly agendas…so we must reject the words and question the character of those that do and say things that fly in the face of Jesus’ teachings as we pray for them in love.

Lastly, we will follow who and what we allow in our hearts and if we allow “man” (even if he espouses a belief in Christ) first place in our hearts we will follow him yet there is no life in following a “Christian” man…life only comes when we follow Christ.

So “choose ye today whom ye will serve” be it man or whatever but “as for me and my house we will serve the Lord…the One and only TRUE Lord and His Name is Jesus!

Be blessed!
