“Covetousness” (Yes…I’m also talking about the “un-Godly” form of the redistribution of wealth)

Romans 7 7: What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.”

Collosians 3:5: 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.

Hebrews 13:5:  5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

1 Timothy 6:10:  10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

Coveting is wrong in the Bible and it has been made plain to me by God that this “redistribution of wealth” that so many proliferate as “right” is an inherent “heart evil” that God through scripture has warned us over and over again not to participate in and allow Jesus to cleanse our hearts of yet so many of us in the “church” due to pride, taught lessons, racial affiliation, political affiliation, or purposeful worship to our current president who preaches this abhorrent behavior that is an offense to God continue count it as right when God says it is wrong.

God redistributes wealth everyday…He takes the tithe and offerings that His faithful children bring into the storehouse and redistributes it through His servants to those in need, to spread His gospel, repair and operate His house’s of worship, and to ensure that those who serve him in the church are paid for their work.

However and unlike those that covet other’s wealth…God does not force anyone to be a “blessing” to others but allows them to decide if they through tithes, offerings, and gifts to others want to help others and for those who try to get around this with the “what about taxes?” mantra…I believe just as Jesus did that we should give “Ceasar” what is His but my belief is that taxes should be no more than the tithe (my opinion) because if it’s good enough for God then it should be good enough for government and BTW this country was founded on NOT taxing it’s people more than necessary.

Consider the following scripture:

Exodus 30: 11-16: 11-16 God spoke to Moses: “When you take a head count of the Israelites to keep track of them, all must pay an atonement-tax to God for their life at the time of being registered so that nothing bad will happen because of the registration. Everyone who gets counted is to give a half-shekel (using the standard Sanctuary shekel of a fifth of an ounce to the shekel)-a half-shekel offering to God. Everyone counted, age twenty and up, is to make the offering to God. The rich are not to pay more nor the poor less than the half-shekel offering to God, the atonement-tax for your lives. Take the atonement-tax money from the Israelites and put it to the maintenance of the Tent of Meeting. It will be a memorial fund for the Israelites in honor of God, making atonement for your lives.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not “preaching” to anybody as I am just a sinner saved by grace but what I do is do the work of the One who sent me and He has given me a voice through His Word to speak His heart to His people so I don’t hold our president or anyone else who acts in this way in their acting like redistributing wealth is right before God as if I’m some judge or something but I do know what God is saying to me on this subject and I will never shy away from sharing what He is speaking into my heart and allowing people to make up their own “grown up” minds as to whether or not what God is saying is true or not.

The people that believe that the “un-Godly redistribution of wealth” are often just regurgitating things that they have been taught to believe (sadly in church often by well-meaning men/women) and it is up to us who clearly hear from God on matters such as these to be bold by opening up God’s word to them so that they may have the chance to see that they are headed in the wrong direction (there is a redistribution of wealth that is right before God’s eyes but it is GOD-lead, not man-lead or forced)….this is my attempt today with this message.

Our brother Paul put it plain in the scripture reference above that coveting (yes..un-Godly redistribution of wealth as God has shown me is this) comes from an old and evil spirit that has allowed itself to be woven into the fabric of many cultures, countries, religions, and even when influenced by our enemy into the fabric of the “body of Christ” as a generational curse as it is taught from the same pulpit that spreads the “Good News” of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This “bad news” that is being passed on within the “church” and the world is a killer and one that God clearly is trying to get us to see that is wrong yet we in our pride continue to fight what His word says and look at what we have…continual infighting, jealousy, pride, thievery, thuggery, apathy of God’s Word, lawlessness (both in public and government), and a continual march in this country and the world away from the only God who can save us.

Lastly, if we look at how this redistribution message is used we can see that it is used to tear us (the citizens) apart favoring one-side over the other while the line of who is “wealthy” is never clearly defined because in one persons eyes anyone who has more than him/her is always going to be “wealthy” and this part of the inherent sin nature that God admonishes us to turn over to Him and not allow to have lordship in our lives that is the root of the current evil that we see today ensuring that as long as we allow them the proliferators of this redistribution message will always have us at each others throats.

There is another way dear brothers and sisters…THE LORD JESUS CHRIST and His Holy Word!!!!

Choose today to pray and ask God to rid any vestige of the coveting spirit from your heart and ask Him to plainly show you who are the proliferators of this message so that you may be a candle that lights up the dark instead of being a willing participant in the proliferation of this evil message.

Also, pray that those who currently profess that coveting what others have is “the way to go” and is “only right” or even worse “ is good or Godly” have their eyes opened up via the power of God’s Holy Spirit yet never condemn them because if we do we are just as guilty of evil or even more-so because many of those that covet are unaware that they are because it has been taught to them as “right” while we as brothers and sisters in Christ are fully aware that we should never condemn a person.

(Note: Just because someone is wealthy does not necessarily make them greedy. There are many wealthy people who faithfully tithe, donate to good causes, and advance the gospel with the finances that God blesses them with yet are lumped in with the “rich” that are vilified by those who covet their wealth.  I personally know alot of business owners who are vilified as “rich” by those who seek to exploit the coveting spirit that currently envelopes this nation and is used by politicians and others to divide “we the people”.  What’s even more amazing is that many of those who vilify the “rich” are rich themselves or become “rich via the taxpayer yet are some of the stingiest people on earch.  Many of today’s politicians who want everyone else to “give more” do not practice what they preach themselves to include many who are in our highest levels of office in this country.)
