Are We (Men) Reading And Obeying The Rest Of Ephesians 5: 21-33

My Nephew posted this scripture today and I felt compelled to pen a response that comes after it:

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭21-33‬ NIV: Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

My thoughts: Most men love for women to obey the first part but look past the part where Husbands are to “love your wifes, even as Christ also loved the church.”
What did Christ do for the “church”?
He died for it YET far too many men are loath to “die” to themselves for their wives and children remaining loyal to their “homies” and their “want’s” than to what their wives need and then have the nerve to blame the wife when it’s their lack of spiritual leadership that often causes strife in their household.
I have found that as I have grown in Christ the “calmer” and more stable my house has become.
Not that “fake” growth that many who go to church once or twice a week get but real growth that only comes with spending time with the Lord, being obedient to His Word, and repenting/asking for forgiveness when I fall short of it ESPECIALLY in the area of leading my household.
We expect our children to be truthful when we lie, we expect our wives to be faithful when we’re not, we expect our children to go to church when we only go when we want to, we expect our houses to be stable when our minds are not stable in Christ.
These are the things that your Unc has learned over the years Neph and it’s why you see me talk the way I talk and act the way I act because if there is one thing I will be it is “real” no matter what any other man thinks of it…and that makes me a man who my wife can respect, follow, and love because in doing so I foster an atmosphere for her to grow into the Godly woman who God designed her to be AND that is our purpose as a man and leader of the family…to serve THEM! Awesome scripture reminder Neph!!!
