(NOTE: I want to be sure that before point out the obvious in my statements below that many politicians BOTH Republican, Democrat, and Independents (and members of ALL past political parties in the past) have been guilty of misquoting, twisting the words, or directly contradicting the words found in the Bible OR Jesus Himself to suit their own political or personal agendas. SO having said that I MUST point out the following)

“Y’all” better be wary of “whom” you are putting your faith in especially when they are quoting directly AGAINST something that our Lord Jesus and the Holy Bible has spoken as “truth”.

During the Catholic-Evangelical Leadership Summit on Tuesday President Obama made remarks that are directly in contrast with what we as Christians who hold the Bible as our standard for the “truth” in all things and his entire quote which is put in its totality to ensure that no one can say that it is taken out of “context” is as follows:

“One of the things I’m always concerned about is cynicism,” Obama said. “My chief of staff, Denis McDonough, we take walks around the South Lawn, usually when the weather is good. And a lot of it is policy talk, sometimes it’s just talk about values. And one of our favorite sayings is our job is to guard against cynicism, particularly in this town. And I think it’s important for us to guard against cynicism and not buy the idea that the poor will always be with us and there’s nothing we can do, because there’s a lot we can do. The question is, do we have the political will, the communal will to do something about it.”

“Not buy into the idea that the poor will always be with us”?

So I guess that Jesus was being “cynical” when He said in Matthew 26: 11: “For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.”

AND in Mark 14:7 (NIV): 7 The poor you will always have with you,[a] and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.

Further, in the Old Testament in Deuteronomy 15:11: the Bible teaches us: 11 “There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and needy in your land.

Whether or not you are a supporter of President Obama when he says stuff like this or when Speaker Boehner and the Republicans break the promises that they made to those that gave them the majority in the last election cycle thus “lying” to them they ALL MUST be held accountable and we as believers must NEVER walk in agreement with their lies simply because we support most of their positions or because we feel beholden to any particular political party.

Our first allegiance should always be to God and the truth!
