“Keeping it 100”! Not all Christians look like “you”.

The Bible teaches us in Mark 9:41 (KJV): “For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward”.

The Bible is clear that we are not to judge people by “looks” as noted in 1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV): 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees;[a] for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

God admonished Samuel not to look at David (the future King of Israel) by  “his appearance or at his physical stature” so it should be “walking around sense” for the “Christian” who knows that we are made in “His” image to NOT do the same as Samuel was doing when he judged David by his stature when the Lord didn’t.

Some of us are “tatted up”, long-haired, blonde, brunette, curly-haired, “kinky hair”, some have scars on the outside and some have scars only on the inside, some may wear a badge and a gun, some wear suits, and some wear the best clothes that they own that may have holes in them BUT ALL ARE WELCOME INTO THE ARMS OF JESUS CHRIST!

Not everyone sins like “you”do so don’t expect any and everyone to be like, praise like, worship like, and/or pray like “you”.

Seek God today and ask Him to forgive you if you may have “ought” in this area of your walk with Him.

I have been guilty of this in the past but when God spoke to me and said “Son, who are you to judge others by SIMPLY by looking at them according to your standard. Was it not you that grew up so hurt because people judged you and disparaged you publicly because you grew up in lack? Did you like it my son when it was done to you?”

God’s words took me back to my childhood when I was made fun of because I didn’t have the best clothes and because we didn’t always live in a nice house…so after I wiped away the tears of gratitude for God showing my folly I repented, asked for forgiveness, and have done my utmost best to not be “that type” of Christian anymore (God still loves “that type” of Christian but He doesn’t like anyone looking down their noses at HIS children).

Despite what our society and sadly even some in the “Church” say we are supposed to “correct in love” when a brother or sister is obviously beset in and practicing openly in sin, or when He (God..He does this you know) charges us with a prophetic word to warn our society when they are turning or have turned against Him.

Yet to simply judge a man, woman, or child by their appearance is sheer folly and is not a God-like trait and the “Church” needs to stop it.  This does not mean that we do not have rules that God has clearly established for discipline and order in His House but to keep someone out simply because they don’t “look the part” is not what we are commanded to do.

We must realize that God loves variety and we know this because why else would He have made us so diverse in so many ways?

He loves us all and we never know…we may be entertaining angels and they may be in a three-piece suit driving a “Benz”, they could have long hair in “dreads”, they could be a woman, they could be a man, they could be a child, they could be black, white, yellow, or brown so we should treat each other with the love that Jesus showed us when He died for us all on the Cross.

Lord, I pray that you bless your people today and I pray for our Pastors and leaders.  I pray in the Name of Jesus that you open the eyes of those who judge solely on the appearance of a person instead of the content of their character like your servant Dr. King said in the speech that you obviously gave him.

I pray for our President and our nation dear Lord, I pray for our armed services personnel, police personnel, firefighters/safety personnel…may you bless them, protect them, and draw them near to you.

I especially pray for your people Israel for your word tells us that “those that bless” Israel will be “blessed” and those that “curse” Israel will be “cursed” so we bless them and count ourselves among the blessed of you.

We thank you for who you are, we love you, we honor you, we worship you, and we praise you sweet Jesus!

In your Holy Name we pray,

Amen!

By the hand of your eternal servant,

Ron “Big Black” Garrett
