Topic On My Mind Today: Domestic Violence And The Hypocrisy That Comes With It

Football player commits domestic violence…he loses his job and is a pariah to society and is seemingly never given a chance to redeem himself….the media is all over it.

Singer/songwriter/actor commits domestic violence…they rarely lose their job…people still buy their music/watch their movies and TV shows and they are seemingly forgiven at all turns….the media covers it for one day and then goes silent because they may lose their access to Hollywood or the music industry.

Man/woman next door commits domestic violence…people remain silent and are often too “chicken” to get involved…media is often loath to cover these stories because they do not sell.

Jesus hated hypocrisy and hypocrites yet viewing this one hot-button issue shows that hypocrisy abounds and that being a hypocrite is quite en vogue these days.

The man/woman next door is just as important and just as worthy of attention as any “superstar” (this generation’s “idols”) when it comes to domestic violence and I pray that the “abuser”, the one being abused, and the ones involved from the witness to the ones who gossip about it and make money off of it in the media encounter Jesus Christ in such a close, personal way that this evil be stopped in it’s tracks and that the Lord heals the hearts of all ESPECIALLY the children whose hearts are scarred quite often for a lifetime by witnessing these horrific acts.

Lastly Lord Jesus, I pray that anyone reading this and even those who don’t see this that find themselves in a domestic violence situation be given strength by you to flee that harmful situation and that you provide avenues of escape and protection for them by your mighty hand. Protect them Jesus!

In Your Holy Name I pray,

Amen!
