YOU have the right to “protest”…I have the right to not like it

How dare you try to lecture me and those like me (veterans) about “your rights” when it is me and people like me who stand at the gate and secure the wall for you to have those rights.

You kneel and protest because it’s “cool” these days while I kneel out of respect for my dead brother and sister whose body lies in a coffin draped underneath the very flag that you choose to disrespect due to your “rights”. A flag that willl be folded reverently and given to a grieving family that will never see him or her again because they were defending your right to protest.

I have given my life so that you can do your protest but that also means that I know from “living it” that I also have a right to be disgusted at your protest and EVEN protest your protest.

Where you see a flag that represents a myriad of negative things I see those also but I also see it as a representative of a “great experiment” where we in this country despite our failures have the opportunity to correct our mistakes and it’s the tenants behind that flag that you disrespect that gives us the freedom to do so.
