As a black man who has in the past been fierce in the defense of everything “black” I still work hard to help my historical people to advance beyond the “sins of others” against us in the past.

However, as I gave my life to Christ and started practicing forgiveness and shunned the desires of retribution and “repayment” for the wrongs against my race much like the wisdom that i saw in what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did when faced with violence and evil I noticed that overtime I began to love (much like Christ did me when I was His “enemy) the “enemy” that I was taught to hate growing up and gained the “peace of Christ Jesus” which opened my eyes to who my TRUE ENEMY was…satan the devil.

So in this black history month I leave you with one important thing that was the catalyst for me to write this this morning as I studied His Word.

I urge you Black man/Black Woman and for that matter ANY “man”/“woman” to stop focusing on what the proverbial “they” have done to you and “your people” (if you are a Christian your “race” is no longer black, white, or “other”) but instead focus on what HE has done for you and focus on what HE did when encountering His enemies (us) and that is to forgive them, love them (even if you have to learn to), and be willing to open your eyes to the realization that the enemy has had you tricked all along into believing that another race was your enemy (this goes for ANY race or culture who has been wronged by another) when it is NOT the people of the offense that was the enemy but the spirit of the anti-Christ…satan that is the enemy.

We are one people under Christ Jesus and there can be no division of your heart is truly bent towards Jesus (paraphrase of Galatians 3:28).

As I lay on my bed one day in tears not long after giving my life to Jesus wondering if I could do this “Christian” thing God for the first time spoke to and challenged me “son, you need to give up your black pride because you cannot fully worship and serve me until you do” I realized that I had a choice to either follow Jesus or to continue following my black pride and I think by the tenant of this writing we know which I chose.

As I view my life through the prism of time and look back on those early days in Christ Jesus and have gained wisdom from my walk with God i can plainly see why God made me choose between my black pride and Him.

You see my black pride in essence was a “god” that I placed above almost all else and thus it was an idol that often ruled my thoughts about others and affected how I relate and react to the “world”.

Once I cast that “god” aside for the love of Jesus the hate, the bitterness, the accusatory tone, disappeared and that void was filled up with the love of Jesus and I haven’t nor will I ever turn back.

This does not mean that I cast my desire to continue working to allow God to use me to helps uplift the black community who has been done so wrong in this country but what it does is allow me to help/uplift them as I help/uplift ALL of God’s children without the “black first” mentality which God has clearly shown me is anti-Christ and if one reads his/her Bible there is no other conclusion that can be made on the issue as only “pride” can make one come to a different one.

There are so many people who have no issue with not being on time for things be it work, lunch, meetings, etc. I’m not talking about when REAL things keep you from being on time like a TRUE health emergency, a TRUE car problem (if you know there is an issue with your vehicle take care of it…don’t put it off and then make an excuse), sitting in traffic due to a wreck (not talking about normal, heavy traffic…plan for it EVEN if you will be super early. Sit in the car and listen to 🎶 if you get to work too early.) or other TRUE emergencies (but realize that TRUE emergencies are not often ALL of the time and definitely NOT daily simply because YOU didn’t prepare for the next day’s task/work).

BE ON TIME!!!

Being on time is one of the best ways to put ones foot forward in any situation. I wrote the following as a comment about being on time to a friend as she was so proud of her son entering the workforce and being responsible.

“I’ve modeled this behavior for my kids for years and now that they are adults they now do the same.  

My mantra has always been that if you are five minutes early then you are five minutes late and what you do the day or night before will dictate your earliness or tardiness the next day. 

Lastly, I’ve always told them that there are very few excuses to be late and to be late FOR ANYTHING is akin to spitting in the face of the person, entity, customer, or business expecting you and basically telling them that their time is not valuable and that you don’t respect them as a man, woman, or business. ”

God has reminded me for the second time this week of what He put on my heart when He dealt with my “black pride”.  

He said “son, you cannot serve me the way that you are supposed to until you stop putting your “black pride” before MY Word and TRUTH. ANYTHING that comes before ME including your “black pride” is an “idol” and you know how I feel about them.”

Most importantly He reminded me that MOST black people who claim Christ as Savior CLAIM that they have forgiven whites for horrible slavery and racism BOTH past and present (AND vice vers sense racism goes both ways and ANYONE is capable of it) but their words and actions prove otherwise.  

The Bible is clear “forgive or you won’t be forgiven” God modeled how we are supposed to forgive when He gave us His Son Jesus to die for and as forgiveness of our sins.

He forgives us NO MATTER our sin and He doesn’t throw our sin neither past, present, or future back in our faces everytime that we do something wrong.  

Why does God not have me address the former slave-owner or racist?

Don’t know…don’t care…I stay in my lane and do what HE tell me to do and NOT what others including the black community tells me to do.

Mayhaps He chose me because I use to have a “taught” level of hatred of for whites that it took me to the brink of becoming so radical that I almost came to a point of hurting people who had no more connection to slave-owners or racism than I did to inventing the “wheel”.

So when God showed me the truth..I TRULY forgave and became “free” and when I asked Him why others like me don’t do the same He let me know that sadly there are many who know His Word and truth just as I do but they CHOOSE to continue to walk in the sin of unforgiveness and that I did NOT want to be in THAT “number” when the proverbial “saints coming in.”

Don’t “hate” the messenger!!!  

Well… even if you do I don’t care anyway so whatever.

(The following is a comment that I made to a dear sister Bridges Hope as she thanked me for the article that God put on my heart as writing it brought me to tears as I recalled that time in my life:

 “Thank you my friend! When He first convicted me of this (JUST BEFORE He sent me to “bus ministry” and then youth…I know you remember those days) I was scared to death to say anything to black folk about it. But God was patient with me and at a Verge He finally released me to start writing so I knew it was time YET I still didn’t write about it for about two years. For a black man who is not afraid of much I knew the attacks that were going to come my way were going to be fierce because I used to treat people that way so I knew what was coming but I realized that Christ knew what was “coming” to Him before He went to the Cross to die for me yet He STILL did it anyway (I’m tearing up writing this) so fearful or not I knew it was time so I started writing and saying it and I’ve been free ever since. (I’m going to add this to it by the way)”

If you know me well you know that with my sense of humor one of the things that I find funny is that few people fail to understand why veterans are so vocal when they stand up for their rights. 

The reason that it seems that many of us have ice water in our veins when it comes to expressing ourselves is that for however many years we served we were often denied many of the very rights that many “civilians” in their apathy take for granted.

No “free speech”, “pursuit of happiness”…as long as it doesn’t hinder the mission, the right to “redress your government with your grievances”…ONLY if the grievances come about if they violate their oath or the law and then ONLY by taking it up the chain-of-command….etc., and so on…you get the picture and if you don’t you’re exactly who (the apathetic person) that I’m talking about).

So you see…if it seems that a service brother or sister seems to fight you harder than a “normal” person on an issue know that the first thing is that we are already used to fighting ( for your tail to express the very right you wish to deny him/her) and because we once volunteered to give up those rights now that we have them back we take them very seriously because we know how precious they are (one only knows how precious something is when it’s lost and found again).

Lastly, WE WILL ALWAYS BE SEVICE MEN AND WOMEN and we are always just a call away NO MATTER our age and physical limitations to “pick up a weapon” to once again defend this God-blessed nation and it’s ever-increasingly hostile against us peoples (smh…the very ones that we fight FOR) and our way of life.

So sleep well, warm, and cozy without a care in the world under the very “blanket of freedom” that every military man and woman has crafted for you.

A blanket that was sown with the blood, sweat, tears, and yes even deaths of those who run into the face of danger as you run back into your comfortable house peeking out of the curtain terrified because WE dare to face death as we face those who desire to destroy our way of life and take away our freedoms.

I leave you with one of the greatest quotes from one of my favorite movies (A few good men) that will sum up what I’ve said here:

At one time we (The United States of America) stood as a vanguard at the wall of freedom to protect it’s gates against the evils of socialism and communism.

Now, many have forgotten that those two evils never overtake a society by force in the beginning but just as it is with the proverbial “frog” in the pot of water overtime they turn the heat up a little at a time and soon enough the water is boiling hot and the frog then dies…this is what is happening now to us.

We see now in the political landscape of today in the United States that socialists/communists (they used to not be able to run for office or work in our government for good reason) whose main political ideology is to completely do away with the rights of the individual to give way to the right of the “collective” can now peruse their wares (their ideology) wide out in the open for all to see and sadly the people, many of whom have been indoctrinated via our governmental educational system seem to be buying it.

Throughout history in any society that succumbs to their seductive titillations they start out with the taking of more and more liberty under the guise of fairness and equality for all but I’m the end the result is always the same…the people lose the ability to govern themselves because they chose to believe the old and proven tactic of the politician….”I will take care of everything for you”…but to do this they (the politician/the government) MUST always remove God out of the equation.

Those who think that this is a good thing must realize that just like the children of Israel who were blessed to be lead by God only to succumb to the world around them and pester God to give them a king who God warned them eventually abuse and enslave them…so will it be with us in this country if we fail to recall history’s lessons in regards to socialism/communism.

Let us all remember that Hitler, Stalin, and many of the most ruthless, evil-minded rulers that ever walked the face of this earth were born out of the very mindset that is sweeping our country today…and we must stop it.

The way to do this is the ONLY tried and true way that has ever worked throughout history and that is for us to call upon God to once again lead this great nation through His Son Jesus Christ.

To the “brother” who was irate at me because I seemed to not be up in arms about the whole Confederate flag debate…let me ask you this.

Where is your protest to “ban” BET and other black (as well as MOST media outlets) for putting out the filth that so many black parents allow into their households.

I’m more concerned with the violence and depravity that is going on today than I am of what some depraved, evil person who used the Virginia battle flag (it was this before it was a “rebel” flag”.

Black men are proudly paraded in front of the cameras as deadbeat, violent, and most of the young ones are seemingly affiliated with a gang.

Our women are held up as little more than whores and sexual objects in music videos, reality programs and we seemingly cheer it on and want MORE, MORE, MORE!

I know that they have some “good” programs on but even during those they promote the “filth” so unlike you, “brother”, I’m not giving them a pass on it…so sue me.

So excuse me if I don’t get in a tizzy over a damn (Biblical use) flag that some chose to pervert and use as a symbol for racism.

I’ll be more impressed when black folk (and everyone) starts protesting out front of BET for promoting black women as “hoes” and black men as “thugs” that are only good enough to be a “baby daddy”…AND IT SEEMS OUR PEOPLE ARE PROUD OF IT!!!

So if you come at me with an idea to protest something that is “race related ” know that my answer will be “okay, I’m with ha but only if you do,what I do,and boycott BET and other media for “hoeing” out black folk for money.

AND, you can continue your protest against a flag that some perverted and used as a symbol to “kill” the body of a man be he black, white, or “other”.

I’m more concerned NOT with what “man can do to kill me but with that that can “kill” me in Spirit, take me away from the will,of,God, and lead me down the road to Destin and that is what this “filth” does. God I,pressed this upon me long ago.

P.s. – and yes I know that ALL other media does it too but this is meant for the many black folk I know who know more about what Jay Z and Beyoncé are doing than they are about how Jesus ACTUALLY tells us how,to live our lives for Him. And NONE of you hypocrites who feign love for Him can tell me that He would sit on the couch with you and watch that filth or listen to it on the radio.

I know this because HE is the one that convicted this former rapper of pursuing the depravity of much of the Hip Hop/ R&B world (and pop, country, etc). Good music can be found in all of the genres but you have to swim though so much filth that it’s not often worth it.
