“Sniff” The Air

Skyler (my son in law’s dog) is a beautiful, golden-haired, most beautiful light blue-eyed, and one of the most intelligent dogs that I have ever known.

She actually talks and groans at you to mark her joy or delight to you at whatever it is that’s going on especially if you aren’t giving her enough attention since the world DOES revolve around her.

As I prepared to begin my quiet time this morning I caught her in my peripheral vision in the door window (to the backyard) to my right and normally I’m so used to her walking around the back there that I don’t pay attention especially if I’m preparing to feast on God’s Word and commune with Him…BUT GOD!

I tried to look back down at my Bible app but was drawn back to Skyler and for the next minute or so this kept happening so I knew that God was trying to make me aware of something so I stopped what I was doing and focused on her (He did speak to Balaam Son of Beor via a donkey in Numbers 22 didn’t He? 😂)

As I watched Skyler it seemed that God made me pay particular notice to how she was sniffing the air to see what was happening around her as dogs do to be more accurate in assessing their environment.

It was then in that moment that God reminded me that we as Christians should symbolically “sniff the air around us” (pay attention) via His Holy Spirit to see what’s happening so that we know how to properly pray about it as well as how to respond to it in the Christ-like fashion.

Far too often many of us Christians in this brutally fast-paced world have come accustomed to simply “running off at the mouth” without thinking about what God has to say or what He desires to be done in a situation just as the “world” does yet somehow we still walk around “high and mighty” like we are a spiritual giant when in reality when we behave like this we have the power of a dust mite (need we be reminded of Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable perfect will of God.”)

So let’s all as brothers and sisters in Christ slow down and take time to “sniff” the spiritual air to see what God is doing instead of letting politics, the news media, family drama (to include “baby mama/daddy drama”), fleshly influences, and even differences within the “Body of Christ” on how we should worship, praise, serve, or apply His Word (to an extent though…we have to keep it 💯 which is real and authentic for the ones who are sans of today’s vernacular and NEVER dilute the word to appease anyone).

So as I leave you let’s all right now take a moment, say a quick prayer for God to show us what’s going on around us and then “sniff the air” as we work through it via the Holy Spirit throughout this entire day today.

He loves you!

He died a horrible, gruesome, yet necessary death just for YOU as proof of how much He loves you and He simply wants the best for you for all of eternity.

Lay your burdens, trials, fears, troubles, doubts, anger, and lack of faith at His feet and let HIM handle them instead of continuing to try and do with them what only Jesus can do (He did die so that you could you know).

I love you and pray that you have a Jesus-filled day!
